England vs New Zealand, 2nd Test: Humbled New Zealand seeks quick fixes for Nottingham Test

Day 1

Day 2

Soon three wickets fell in the morning with a lead of 9 runs. Despite the try, the New Zealand opening batsman failed once again. This put pressure on the next batsman. Whereas struggling 56/4 with a lead of 47 runs. Finally, the partnership started to build between Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell the both fought hard and added 195 runs for the 5th wicket. New Zealand finished 236/4 on day 2 Mitchell 97* Blundell 90*

Day 3

Mitchell completed his maiden Test century 108(203) and Blundell 96(198) both fell to the senior bowlers Broad and Anderson When the partnership broke, wickets fell in line, and little came at the end by Southee 21(26). England bowlers Broad and Potts picked 3 wickets each. Setting 276 runs as a target England began the innings. The tall bowler from New Zealand Kyle Jamieson troubled the English batsman and took 4 wickets. Above all struggling 69/4. Interestingly the former and present captains of England united to develop the England innings and marched toward the victory mark. Moreover, adding 90 runs for the 5th wicket Ben stokes fell 54(110) who smashed two sixes in Ajaz Patel’s bowling English completed the day 3 innings with 216/5. Joe Root 77(131)* Ben Foakes 9(47) 

Day 4

With 61 runs to go, Joe Root led the chase and completed 10,000 runs in 118 matches and 26th century in test matches. Drake’s 32(92)* played an anchor role with root. Joe Root 115(170)* went to beat team New Zealand by 5 wickets. 

2nd test match starts on June 10th.
