Diwali is one of the famous festivals celebrated in India. It is said as a Hindu festival, but it is celebrated by all religious people without any partialities. This festival got celebrated in October or November. It is celebrated for five days, and the main aim of the festival is to bring prosperity, fertility, and healthy life to the worldly people.

The word ‘Diwali’ is derived from Sanskrit. In the Tamil language, it is called ‘Dheeba Oli Thirunaal’, which means, the darkness got fades with the illumination of light. People believe that by celebrating Diwali, the illumination of light got spread all over the life of people. When the festival nears, unknown happiness enters from childhood days and the first thing which comes to our mind is wearing new clothes and all about the crackers.

History of Diwali Festival

All Indian festival has a background from the divine things like god and goddesses. Likewise, Diwali also deals with the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, he took the incarnation of Vamana to kill Narakashra. Also, said to be a celebration of the arrival of Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana to Ayodhya during the 14 years of Vanavas.

South Indian People celebrate Diwali

When comparing to Northern people, let’s see how south Indians celebrate. On the south side, traditionally people used to have an oil bath in the early morning, later they wear new clothes and have praying to god to make their life well wish. Everyone prepares special foods and sweets and shares them with their family friends and relatives. During these festivals, employees have their bonuses and the people who work in outer places will return to their natives by bringing sweets, gifts along with happiness to their families.

Importance of Crackers

There is no Diwali without crackers, for the whole five days, crackers play a special role in the celebration. In Tamil Nadu Sivakasi is a place famous for manufacturing crackers, many cracker industries are there with many employees. It is a place that exports crackers all over India. So, the manufacture of crackers gives life to many peoples.

Social Development

During the time of Diwali, not only the crackers, many products have extreme manufacturing, exporting and importing, like production of fabrics, sweet shops, groceries, etc. businessman and manual workers have their targets to complete their work before the festival, who provides bonus and salaries to the employees, because of this financial development of society got to develop and provides employment to many employees.

Conclusion

From ancient to modern there are slight changes in the way of celebration, because of the development of cultures and technologies. Celebrating Diwali for the prosperity, illumination, and wellness of life is to be appreciated, but lighting and bursting large amounts of crackers lead to air pollution, noise pollution, destruction of the environment, and the depletion of the ozone layer, also leads to health issues.
