History:

BCCI started the NKP Salve challenger trophy in 1995 in appreciation for his contribution. The women’s edition began in 2008. The season played before the start of the Ranji trophy.

Teams:

In the starting stage of the tournament, it was India seniors, India A and India B later in the year 2006 it became India Blue, India Red, India Green. In 2021-22 they added another team as India D.

Points:

4 points are allotted for each match. Teams with the same points in the table their net run rate will be taken into consideration.

Format:

A 50 over the game. Round-robin round played between three teams top two teams go on to finals, but in the latest edition, round-robin round played twice to determine the winner.

Records:

10 seasons were played totally from the start of the edition India blue with 5 title wins.

Senior Women’s Challenger Trophy: 2021-22:

The winner of the final season is India A women by 3 wickets.

Yastika Bhatia 86 and  Chall Jhansi Lakshmi 64 high score for team A, these two added 95 run partnership for 3rd wicket.

Rajeshwari Gayakwad 4/36 in 10 overs in the final.

This tournament is considered as preparation for the women’s world cup starting in March 2022.
